바나흐(1892.3.30~1945.8.31)폴란드의 수학자. 크라쿠프 출생. 1922년 루보프대학 강사가 되었고, 27∼45년 동대학 교수로 재직하였다. 함수해석(函數解析)을 연구하여 위상공간(位相空間)의 이론을 창시·발전시켰다. 그는 벡터의 크기 개념을 확장한 놈을 통하여 거리를 도입한 바나흐공간으로 알려진 놈(norm) 선형공간의 개념으로 유명하다. 주요저서에 《선형연산론：Th럒rie des op럕ations lin럂ires》(1932)이 있다.
